1) The Faculty of Law of the University of Ghent
The Faculty of Law of the University of Ghent (Belgium)
has a vacancy for a full time (100%) tenure track
professor in the department of Criminal Law and Criminology
charged with academic teaching (mostly in Dutch),
scientific research and carrying out scientific duties
in the fields of criminology and sociology of law.
The appointment will be made in the rank of lecturer,
starting from 1 October 2012.
This full-time position is a tenure-track temporary
appointment for a period of five years, at the end
of which a tenure decision will be taken as full-time
Professor in the rank of Senior Lecturer (hoofddocent),
depending on an overall positive evaluation of the
candidate.

2) Northeastern University
Northeastern University seeks outstanding faculty
members for interdisciplinary positions in fields
related to broad issues of critical importance to
cybersecurity and cybercrime. In addition to individual
applications, we welcome inquiries from candidates
interested in proposing an interdisciplinary cluster
hire in response to this opportunity. Applications
are invited from any discipline that contributes to
an understanding of the causes and impacts of cybercrime,
particularly its social, economic, or political consequences.
Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent terminal
degree at the beginning of the appointment and a record
of scholarship and teaching commensurate with rank.
Full or Associate professors with excellent track
records of published work are preferred; exceptional
Assistant Professors will also be considered.
Faculty members appointed in this area will be eligible
for tenure in either the College of Computer and Information
Science or the College of Social Sciences and Humanities,
depending on the candidate's specific field and background.
The new colleagues are expected to work with faculty
members across different colleges, in order to develop
and enhance scholarship and interdisciplinary funding
opportunities at the intersection of traditional disciplines.
Northeastern University has a strong international
presence in the field of security studies and is committed
to strengthening this position. Northeastern recently
established the George J. Kostas Research Institute
for Homeland Security, a secure, state-of-the-art
research Center, designed to support private-public
multidisciplinary research teams in the technical,
legal, ethical, and policy-related issues associated
with cybersecurity, resilience of critical systems
and infrastructure, and community resilience. Northeastern
is also one of the partner institutions for the International
Secure Systems Laboratory. The university is a National
Security Agency Center of Excellence in Information
Assurance Research and Education. It hosts a Department
of Homeland Security Center of Excellence for the
Awareness and Location of Explosives Related Threats
(ALERT), and has been awarded a multi-million dollar
research grant (VOTERS) for developing critical infrastructure
sensing technology.
